Partners in Music Technology

March 24, 2007

I recently began a collaboration with Joe Pisano, a professor at Grove City College who runs a great Music and Technology Blog to continue to advocate for technology enhancement of music education.  MUSicTECHnology.net blog is a WONDERFUL reference for all things technology if you are looking for the latest word in what is going on.  Joe has begun to expand his scope in an effort to maximize audience and get the word out about the incredible advances in the world of technology and music.

I am extremely excited about the collaboration and look forward to a long and productive relationship.  Be sure to check his blog often for great information on resources that will engage your students and enhance your experience as a musician and educator.  Look for posts from me about integration of technology in the classroom and possibly a podcast or two with Joe and his colleagues!  What great fun!

Shift Happens

March 13, 2007

Our director of Secondary Education sent this out to all teachers today. We have been working on this same problem/premise in our county for the past two years, recognizing that we MUST change the way we teach.

Watch this video and then think about this….what will music education look like in 2015? Where are we going? Will band directors and music teachers become obsolete? Or will we just find new ways to deliver instruction…it’s up to us. This blog is dedicated to ensuring that music education will remain viable and essential in the future. I welcome your comments!
